Purpose
This is the paper application form for a Maritime Crew (Temporary) visa, a visa available to members of crew of certain non-military ships travelling to Australia, and to their accompanying partner and dependent children. It also explains visa validity and the legal requirements crew must continue to meet.
Who lodges it
The applicant - a current or prospective crew member of a qualifying ship, or the partner or dependent child travelling on the same ship - and a shipping agent or legal practitioner may complete it with the applicant's consent.
When it is used
It is used only from outside Australia by foreign crew of qualifying commercial, research or public vessels (and their accompanying family) who need the visa before signing onto a ship in Australia; internet lodgement is the encouraged alternative.
